NEWS: Indian vocalist Wajid Khan, of the popular Bollywood music composer duo Sajid-Wajid, passed away on Sunday in Mumbai, he was 42. Music composer Salim Merchant was among the firsts who confirmed the news of his death. Stating that Wajid was hospitalised a few days ago at Mumbai’s Surana Hospital.
“He had multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant a while ago. But recently he got to know about kidney infection. He was on the ventilator for the last four days, after his situation started getting worse. Kidney infection was the beginning and then he got critical,” Salim said.
Wajid and his brother Sajid made their debut into Bollywood as music directors leading with actor Salman Khan’s Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. The duo continued to compose music for several Salman movies like Hello Brother, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, Garv, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Partner, God Tussi Great Ho, Wanted, Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, Veer and Dabangg (1, 2 and 3) among more.
His last song was Salman’s ‘Bhai Bhai’ that released on Eid.

Abhishek Bachchan took to Twitter to express his grief over the loss of Wajid Khan. “Rest in harmony my friend. Had the pleasure of working with both Sajid-Wajid most loving and brilliant. My condolences to his family and especially Sajid,” the actor tweeted.

Subsequent reports have linked Wajid Khan’s death to Covid-19 but the official cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
