SABC NEWS: The mother of a six-year-old girl, whose body was found in a sugarcane field yesterday, has been charged with her murder. Fungai Nyamadzawo faces charges of kidnapping, perjury, defeating the ends of justice and murder.
She was reported missing on Sunday after her mother claimed the child was snatched out of her vehicle. The mother, 42-year-old Fungai Nyamadzawo, has been remanded into custody.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker says she will again appear in court on the 10th of June for a formal bail hearing.
Nyamadzawo, a Zimbabwean national, reported her daughter’s kidnapping occurred from the back seat of her car while she was driving in the area with her two children. She was arrested on Tuesday after her daughter’s body was found.
