NEWS: The Apollo Secondary School in Chatsworth, south of Durban has been closed after a staff member tested positive for the COVID-19.
Reports suggest the teacher had been at school last week, before experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus. As a precautionary measure, the school has been shut down with staff and other employee’s undertaking tests for the virus.
The Apollo Secondary School Principal spoke to Newsbreak on condition of anonymity, explains what transpired,
KZN Education HOD, Enock Nzama says health officials visited the school on Tuesday morning and took a decision to close it down.
“We are testing all the teachers as well as the learners that happened to meet the teacher, especially because we have matriculants. The school is closed already,” he says.
In other news, the South African Hindu Maha Sabha has condemned the Hinduphobic attack made by Chatsworth evangelist, Simeon Bradley Chetty. The Hindu religious body intends taking strong action against Chetty and the Revival Ministries church. read more here
