Narcotics Probe Underway into Karan Johar ‘Drug Party’

NCB Drug Probe Karan Johar Deepika Padukone

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is expanding the Bollywood drug probe to include a list of high profile Bollywood celebrities. The Indian celebrity A-listers that are set to be investigated are Shahid Kapoor, Karan Johar, Vicky Kaushal, Deepika Padukone, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor. The investigation will probe the alleged drug party that occurred at Johar’s residence in 2019. The complaint has been registered by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Manjinder Sirsa, who met with Director-General of the NCB, Rakesh Asthana.

The Bollywood celebrities have been accused of alleged “consumption, possession and allowing a premise to be used for commission of offences cognizable in nature under chapter 4 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985”. Karan Johar has previously stated the controversy where celebrities at his house party were accused of being drugged.

The complaint has been forwarded on to the Mumbai office of the Narcotics Control Bureau to institute a probe into the alleged drug party, said a source at the NCBN speaking to The Quint.

“Apparently, you’re not allowed to scratch your nose, you’re not allowed to put your phone in your back pocket, and a shadow of light is perceived to be some kind of a powder. My mother lives 10 metres away from that hall. Am I stupid to put out a video if something like this is happening? It was a social gathering where friends were having good conversations and my mother was sitting with us just 10 minutes before this video was taken,” said Karan Johar.
