The Narcotics Control Bureau is set to summon Indian celebrities Sara Ali Khan, Sushant’s manager Shruti Modi, former talent manager Jaya Saha Simone Khambatta and Rakul Preet Singh for this week for questioning. The investigation relates to the alleged drug connection in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, say sources in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) who spoke to The Quint.
“During the preliminary investigation in the first case registered based on the retrieved WhatsApp messages of Rhea Chakraborty, few other actors name have come up including Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor. Both will be asked to join the investigation this week, the summons will be issued soon,” an officer involved in the investigation told NDTV.
Reports suggest that the NCB may issue summons to the actors later this week in connection federal agency case, based on alleged WhatsApp messages retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty’s mobile phone.
It is believed that on 12 September, several reports in the investigation say Rhea Chakraborty has named 25 Bollywood personalities who have to be summoned for interrogation. Speaking to The Quint, an NCB source has confirmed that these claims are false.
Their names reportedly came up during the interrogation of Rhea Chakraborty, who was arrested on 9 September on charges of procuring drugs for her late partner Sushant Singh Rajput.
Rakul Preet Singh in response to media reports, filed a petition at the Delhi High Court against Indian news media houses. Preet claims that Sushant’s partner and actor Rhea Chakraborty has retracted the statement in which she was allegedly named.
Rakul also stated in her petition that the I&B ministry guidelines prohibit media from running hate campaigns, adding that TV channels were showing her “morphed pictures and photos from film sets to paint a narrative”, to hound her, and link her to some sort of a drug gang.
Currently, Sushant Singh Rajput’s death is being investigated by the NCB, CBI and ED. A Mumbai court rejected Chakraborty’s request for bail citing reasons that she could potentially “alert persons she has named”. The court also dismissed Rhea Chakraborty’s argument that she was coerced into making her statement.
