Actor Deepika Padukone among other Indian celebrities have been issued summons in relation to the Bollywood drug scandal. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday said that it has summoned several Bollywood actors including Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh for questioning in the drug probe.
Speaking to IANS, a senior NCB official related to the narcotics investigation said, “Summons have been issued to Deepika, Sara, Shraddha and Rakul for questioning. “Besides four Bollywood actors, the NCB has also summoned fashion designer Simone Khambatta.”
It is unclear at current on which day that these Bollywood celebrities will be required to present themselves for interrogation.
Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash is also to be questioned by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Prakash and Padukone are currently in Goa on a film shoot. Dhruv Chitgopekar the CEO of KWAN agency has been hauled in for questioning as well.
The summons have been issued in the wake of recent reports of Whatsapp conversations that have surfaced. These chat conversations allege that Bollywood A-listers including Deepika Padukone have been involved in drug procurement and consumption.
The NCB drug-probe has been instituted in the wake of alleged drug related conversations that were found between Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda.
Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, Miranda, Sushant’s personal staff Dipesh Sawant and 16 other suspects have been arrested by the NCB drug probe thus far. Rhea Chakraborty is currently being held in custody until 6 October.
Shraddha Kapoor is the daughter of veteran actor Shakti Kapoor and Deepika Padukone is the daughter of the badminton icon Prakash Padukone. Sara Ali Khan is the daughter of actor Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh is set to be questioned however it is unclear at this stage for what reasons.
