A suspect has been arrested at Verulam, north of Durban for the alleged rape of his 12-year-old neighbour. The alleged incident took place late last month but only came to the fore this week when her mother found the girl in possession of the suspects cell-phone.
The child claims that the suspect lent her the mobile phone to watch pornographic videos. The grade six learner claimed that in the days following the initial incident the suspect called her to his room where he made her watch the x-rated content before he raped her again. Director of local security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Prem Balram says the mother contacted his team as soon as she found out about the incident.
