South African National Arrested in Sushant Drug Probe

South African national Agisilaos Demetriades has been arrested in connection with the Bollywood drug probe that is linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Demetriades is the brother of actor Arjun Rampal’s girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades.

The 30-year-old South African was arrested by police at a resort in Lonavala, Mumbai. He was also found in possession of marijuana and alprazolam, both of which are banned narcotic substances in India. Both his residence and the resort were raided after the team received a tipoff on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Agisilaos Demetriades for his alleged involvement with drug dealers who have been arrested in Sushant Singh Rajput drug probe. Demetriades is expected to appear before a local court in Mumbai soon and is currently in NCB custody.

The NCB confirmed his arrest adding that Agisilaos has links to an active Bollywood drug syndicate. “He is part of a major drug syndicate in Bollywood. During our probe, we found that he was in touch with various peddlers arrested in the case,” told an NCB official to Mid-Day

Agisilaos Demetriades will remain in the custody of the NCB for several days while they trace his link with drug dealers within the Indian film industry. Punishment for financing illicit traffic and the harbouring of offenders (Section 27) is considered the most stringent laws of the NDPS Act has been applied in Demetriades case.


Rhea Chakraborty was granted bail on Wednesday, 7 October by the Bombay High Court. Sushant Singh Rajput’s staff members Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant have also been granted bail by the High Court. The former girlfriend of Sushant Singh Rajput left Mumbai’s Byculla jail on Wednesday evening, accompanied by her lawyer Satish Maneshinde.

Her brother Showik Chakraborty’s bail plea has been rejected along with Abdul Basit and will remain behind bars. On 29 September, the Bombay High Court had reserved its order on the bail pleas of Rhea and Showik, which they had filed on 22 September.

Rhea Chakraborty’s mother Sandhya reveals she contemplated suicide after the onslaught against her family and that her daughter is seeking therapy. After spending almost a month in prison and her release has been met with sympathy and anger from social media.
