Teddy Mafia, full name Yaganathan Pillay, died while en route to hospital on Monday after being shot at close range in his Chatsworth home.
Alleged drug lord Yaganathan ‘Teddy Mafia’ Pillay has been laid to rest during an elaborate ceremony at his home in Shallcross, Durban.
Pillay, who was seen by many as a benevolent figure in the Chatsworth community for good deeds while at the same time causing damage with drugs, was buried in a Stetson hat and sunglasses in a gold, diamond-encrusted coffin. Earlier estimates put the cost of the funeral at R300 000.
