Cllr Previn Vedan made the distribution to senior citizens of Shallcross, Crossmoor, Moorton and Bottlebrush in February, the ruling being that eThekwini Seniors are to receive food vouchers.
Quoted in Rising Sun “The vouchers had come at the right time. Since the beginning of the lockdown, we have been trying to assist our community as best as we can. We have been engaging with various sectors to provide as much relief as possible. The current voucher assistance and hampers that we had been allocated have now been distributed and I can confirm that the distribution was fair and that I can account for each ticket that was distributed. We will try to get more as well. We have to provide hope to the people of ward 71. We need to ensure that the ward is a positive place in which people can mature and grow older- a place in which older people can participate to the fullest and can find the encouragement, acceptance, assistance, and services they need to continue to lead lives of independence and dignity,” said Cllr Vedan.
