Ryan Nair leaves 5FM – in his own words

Ryan Nair, 5FM DJ and multiple DJ champion has left 5fm, and released this statement on his facebook page:

Peace Out… For now! ✌

After many years of being part of the 5fm family, transitioning from a mix show DJ to radio host, the time has come for me to say Goodbye.

What started as a dream manifested its way into reality. 2009 was where the journey began, having my first shot as a resident mix DJ on The Late Night Fix with DJ Fix and a few years later becoming the Ultimix Battle Champ with DJ Fresh. I have held that residency from 2012 till this day! The Ultimix was the most iconic mix show on South African radio and it’s been a pleasure rocking it throughout the years!

Fast forward to 2018/19 and that was the birth of my very own weekend shows, Starting From Scratch and The After Party!! Following in the footsteps of the legends Roger Goode, Derek the Bandit, and Euphonik was not an easy task but through consistency and dedication, it was done!

These shows were created to bring the best in music across genres and give a platform to DJs from S.A and abroad to showcase their skills! As a DJ/Turntablist, this was my way of giving back to the culture and exposing new talent.
I have met some amazing people over the years at 5fm, as well as being blessed with the opportunity to work alongside industry greats, learn from the best, feature at the coolest events, and most importantly call 5fm my Home.
Special thanks to DJ Fresh, Justine Cullinan, DJ Fix, Tim Zunckel, Roger Goode, Travers Solomon, Grant Nash, and Liesl Hefkie for believing in talent and giving it a place to shine. To my fam behind the scenes, I appreciate all your work on helping maintain and keep the brand alive 🙏

The journey is far from over and I’m excited for the new adventures that await!
My final shows are:
27 MAR – SFS (7-10pm)
28 MAR – TAP (10pm-1am)
