Pakistani singer Meesha Shafi faces 3 years of jail for alleged false accusation of sexual harassment

Meesha Shafi became the talk of the town after she had accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment during the 2018 #MeToo movement. She made her film debut with a supporting role in the 2013 Mira Nair’s film The Reluctant Fundamentalist. She achieved further critical success for her role of Laxmi, an Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing’s operative, in Bilal Lashari’s action thriller film Waar, which ranks among the highest-grossing Pakistani films of all time in Pakistan. In 2018 Meesha Shafi accused actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment. Attractive women who claim sexual harassment are believed more often: study

A report published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, uncovers that youthful and appealing ladies who act in a ladylike manner have a higher likelihood of being accepted when making sexual harassment allegations. The findings of this University of Washington-led study involved more than 4,000 participants, reveals perceptions that primarily “prototypical” women are likely to be harassed. The research also showed that women outside of those socially determined norms or “non-prototypical” women are more likely perceived as not being harmed by harassment.
