Sprinter Lythe Pillay to Poland to prepare for Olympic qualification

Lythe Pillay does it again! Lythe is off to Poland to compete in world relay championships which is to take place on 1 – 2 May 2021. The main objective is the preparations for the 2021 Olympic Games and the qualification of the 4x400m Men. He will be running in the 4 x 400m relay team with Wayde van Niekerk; Berend Koekemoer; Zakithi Nene; Oscar Mavundla; Ranti Dikgale. That’s right…the Wayde van Niekerk – South African track and field sprinter who competes in the 200 and 400 metres. In the 400 metres, he is the current world and Olympic record holder which he broke in the Olympic finals. He also holds the world-best time in the 300 metres. Two young women from Laudium have won high-profile international accolades for their exemplary skills and entrepreneurship this week. They are Rabia Ghoor and Sumayya Vally. Beauty products businesswoman, Rabia Ghoor, received the Forbes Woman Africa ‘Young Achievers’ Award for 2021, while architect Sumayya Vally, was pne of those featured in the 2021 Times100 list that acknowledges leaders who are shaping the future. Rabia Ghoor is a 21-year-old entrepreneur and Sumayya Vally 30-year-old architect respectively. Swiitch Beauty – Rabia Ghoor Ghoor’s award was announced during a virtual Forbes summit to celebrate African women leaders. Especially those who are committed to economic and social transformation on the continent. Ghoor started ‘Swiitch Beauty’, her make-up and skincare online beauty store at just 14. Shree Ayyappaa Kshetram temple near Laudium renovates

The temple at Shree Ayyappaa Kshetram has been closed since March 2020 due to governmental restrictions. The press release from the temple below refers: According to Scriptural injunctions a hindu temple should be revitalised and a Kumba Abishegam performed after every 12 years that a temple is in existence. This affords an opportunity to improve and maintain the structures and surroundings as well as a wonderful time to bring a congregation of worshipers together with renewed energy. Despite the temple being closed we have made a concerted effort to maintain continued progress and have attempted to make maximum use of this time to begin the temple refurbishment and renovations in preparation for the Kumba Abishegam.
