In a rare friendly gesture, Pakistan on Thursday allowed the over-flight of the European Union (EU) plane, delivering medical supplies to India to tackle the COVID-19 crisis. Androulla Kaminara, the EU envoy to Pakistan thanked Islamabad for so swiftly and efficiently processing the request. “We would like to warmly thank Pakistan for so swiftly and efficiently processing the request for over-flight of EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid plane delivering humanitarian supplies to India. ‘I’ve lived my life’: 85-year-old with COVID gives up hospital bed for younger patient, dies at home

An 85-year-old COVID-19 patient, who voluntarily gave up his hospital bed in Nagpur to a younger patient on Saturday saying “I have lived my life”, died at his home on Tuesday. Narayan Dabhalkar was admitted to the Indira Gandhi government hospital in Nagpur after he tested positive a few days ago.  After much effort, he got a bed. It was then that he saw a woman looking for a bed to save her 40-year-old COVID-infected husband. The hospital authorities refused to admit him because there were no empty beds. Later, Dabhalkar saw her in tears and decided to vacate his bed for her husband.  While giving up his bed, he reportedly said, “I am 85. I have lived my life. Russia sends oxygen concentrators, ventilators and 200,000 packs of medicines to India 🇷🇺 Russia has announced that it is sending over 22 tonnes of medical supplies including 20 oxygen production units, 75 ventilators, and 200,000 packs of medicines to India to deal with the COVID-19 second wave.The Russian Foreign Ministry said that two transport planes carrying medical supplies are already en route to India. An injured snake was rescued and operated by surgeons in India’s eastern Mayurbhanj district on Saturday, April 17 2021. The Russell’s Viper snake that was trapped in a fishing net for 5-6 days was spotted by children after which it was rescued and its wound was stitched. “This snake was stuck in a net and its skin was torn. We gave him stitches over here so it is doing well. It will recover,” said a Veterinarian, Manas Kumar Dalbehera. “It is doing well. It will recover.” The snake was later released in the biosphere reserve of Similipal National Park. The Russell’s viper is one of the most dangerous snakes in Asia. India becomes the fastest nation to administer 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine

In a major milestone in the fight against COVID-19, India has administered over 100 million doses of coronavirus vaccines across the country, the Union Health Ministry informed on Saturday. With this, India has become the fastest in the world to administer that many vaccines in 85 days. As per the health ministry, it took the United States 85 days to administer 92.09 million doses, while China’s vaccination coverage was 61.42 million.As of 7:30 pm on Saturday, the 85th day of the nationwide COVID19 vaccination, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country stands at 10,12,84,282. “A series of pro-active, collaborative and coordinated steps taken by the Centre and the State governments along with the efficient clinical management has ensured that India has the lowest fatality rate in the world (1.28 per cent),” a statement said.The 10.12 crore …
